Antique Coopered Oak; Copper Ale Jug | Large Rustic Cider Pitcher

Bring a slice of historic British pub charm into your home with this magnificent Antique Coopered Oak and Copper Ale Jug from The Salvage Hut. Dating back to the late 19th century, this exceptionally large decorative pitcher was traditionally crafted much like a barrel, using beautifully aged oak slats tightly bound together by three robust, riveted copper bands.

While it likely spent its early days serving cider or ale in a bustling public house, it has transitioned into a stunning character piece for country cottage or farmhouse interiors. As an authentic piece of late Victorian history, it features a wonderful patina with genuine age-related wear, tear, and natural timber shrinkage.

Please note: Due to its age and the natural drying of the wood, this decorative jug is no longer watertight, but it functions beautifully as a dry vase or cover.

Despite being non-watertight, this substantial oak and copper pitcher is incredibly easy to style as a show-stopping floral display. Simply drop a standard glass jar or plastic container inside the wide 19 cm top opening, fill it with water, and display a dramatic arrangement of seasonal blooms, long pampas grasses, or sprawling eucalyptus branches. It makes an eye-catching centerpiece for a rustic farmhouse dining table, a grand statement on a fireplace hearth, or a welcoming touch in an entryway hallway. The warm contrast between the rich oak grain and the industrial riveted copper bands also pairs beautifully alongside antique kitchenalia or copper cookware collections.
