This wonderful antique copper bowl was probably a Brazier.
Now it would make a lovely centre piece, would look great filled with water, floating candles and flower heads.
Probably made of copper on brass as you can see some brass coming through the copper.
This bowl has a hammered pattern to the base, it has two side handles, one of which has lost the ring that holds it in place, please see photos.
A lovely useful and useable bowl.
